Our Daily laugh.....

I realize this probably will not be funny to anyone who doesn't know how huge our cat Sami is.

We adopted him in 2004 in California, I wanted to give something to Zachary to love while he was struggling with Eric's first year long deployment. Nicky and Avery were at an age where they played together, but Zachary went to school all day, and just seemed like it was a lonesome road for him.

I believe things happen for a reason, and Sami's story is no different. Nicky, Avery and I went to the shelter in Barstow, California intending to adopt a calico cat we had viewed the day before. Zachary had no idea this was all happening. But when we got to the shelter, and got put in the "visiting" room with the Calico cat, she went crazy, meowing and hissing. I thought Avery and Nicky's eyeballs were going to pop out, they wanted NOTHING to do with a cat anymore.  Somewhat deflated, I got them ready to head out the door when I saw a huge puffball sitting in some cages by the door. He had the most beautiful green eyes. And he was so sweet and let Nicky and Avery pet him with no care in the world.

After asking alot of questions, they had NO info on Sami. He had just been brought in with a large amount of cats on the street, but they couldn't find his info card. They said they couldn't even let us get him because of that. But I asked her to reconsider and she did. She said they would vaccinate him, he would be neutered that day and we could pick him up the next afternoon. When it is right, you know it is right.

When we went to get him, Zachary was with us and had no idea where we were going. I will never forget the look on Zachary's face when he and Sami met for the first time. Now its a family joke that Sami might have a Gangster on the streets of Cali:)  With Lajja, he is definitely king and even when they play, he calls the shots.

11 years later, he cracks us up daily. Just randomly walking by any of our beds your bound to find him stretched out this way, usually with his little teeth sticking out. I know you can't see his face, or his arm because he is so black, but he is just the sweetest, funniest gift to our family.

Even funnier, Avery has decorated her room with Christmas lights and listens to Eric's Ipod with Christmas music on it. BOTH cats have slept all night with Avery since she started listening to it. I think they really love the Christmas music!

One of God's many gifts to our family, we wouldn't know what to do without Sami, or "bigfatso" as we affectionately call him!
